My name's Selena and I opened LovesVintage43 after having been made redundant from a long term retail job. With too many people applying for too few jobs, I saw a lifeline when somebody on a Forum I was reading stated that the Government Enterprise Allowance Scheme was now open to applicants of all ages rather than exclusively to the under 25s, so I applied straight away, declined the loan they were offering, got accepted, and after forwarding a business plan and setting a date for my business launch, it was all systems go on a wing and a prayer! 3 months from start to finish, LovesVintage43 launched at the end of January 2014.
I was already self-taught making fairly basic beaded boho style jewellery as a hobby, and had also inherited some vintage costume jewellery I wanted to sell so I had the small beginnings of a jewellery business. I have enjoyed researching and learning new jewellery making techniques along the way by taking various courses and watching tutorials. I have always had a love of the golden era of Hollywood glamour, especially all things Art Deco and sparkly from the 20th Century, which is what inspired me to start creating affordable and elegant vintage inspired & Bohemian style mixed media costume jewellery with special occasions in mind. Since then I have expanded my range to include some more modern and everyday wear designs, so hopefully I have something for everyone ! I also carry a small range of original vintage jewellery and accessories, I have a real fondness for quirky items and particularly brooches which I hope to expand in the near future.
I really love meeting new people and often take LovesVintage43 out and about on location to craft & vintage and retro fairs in and around the London & Middlesex areas, so please do pop over and say hello at one of my events, I'd really love to meet you ! Selena x
